Recently, a post was uploaded to the official Resident Evil account, which doesn’t give any information away, but is leaving fans guessing as to what it could be in relation to. The tweet itself contains nothing but a picture of everyone’s favorite 9ft antagonist Lady Dimitrescu, along with the phrase “a rat can’t run from the dragon’s claws!” The caption is a direct quote from the vampire lady herself, who utters it during an encounter with Ethan Winters. Other than that, there is nothing to go on, but it doesn’t seem to stop the fan base.

Some in the comments are certain, or at least hoping, that this rather ambiguous tweet refers to some as-yet-unannounced DLC for Resident Evil Village, which players have been hoping for pretty much since the game came out last May. At the time of writing, there has been no official word from Capcom about whether there is any new content coming to the game, so all fans really have to go off are high hopes and speculations.

The Resident Evil community speculating about possible upcoming projects is nothing new. The gaming sphere has been awash with rumors about a possible Resident Evil 4 remake being in development, but again these are only rumors. In any case, whenever there is a whiff of potential DLC or a new game in the air, fans will run with whatever information is out there, however vague it may be.

Of course, that’s not to say some DLC won’t get announced at some point. Resident Evil Village is considered one of the scariest games in the series, and, along with the previous installment, has helped reboot the franchise and give it a new lease on life. As it stands, the cryptic tweet doesn’t appear to mean anything, but maybe the developer will come forward and clarify some things.

Resident Evil Village is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
