They did so to show their support for Twins GM Terry Ryan, who was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma this offseason after doctors found a lump in his neck.

Ryan underwent surgery in early February to remove the lump. 

The good news for Ryan was that this particular type of cancer was contained in a lymph node, is treatable and not the type that spreads through the body. 

Still, he has taken a leave of absence from his duties to recover.

"There comes a time you need to put your family and your personal health and everything in front of your job and the game, and he's a smart enough guy to know that this is the time to do that right now," said assistant GM Rob Antony.
