A large source of controversy within Twitch as a platform usually stems from the suspensions and bans that popular Twitch streamers often receive. Recently, popular streamer Macaiyla, whose viewership had been rising steadily in recent months, has received a mysterious ban from the platform. This has lead many to speculate as to the exact length and reasoning behind the ban from Twitch.

Macaiyla’s Twitch Career So Far

Macaiyla is the long-time girlfriend of extremely popular League of Legends streamer Tyler1, who rose to stardom via his over-the-top reactions and a high-profile ban from League of Legends due to toxic behavior. Macaiyla would feature very frequently on Tyler1’s streams, where she would establish herself amongst the community and become inspired to start streaming herself.

Macaiyla began streaming all the way back in July 2019, building a steady audience over the years. She would go on to become a content creator for the e-sports organization Cloud9 in 2021, although Macaiyla recently resigned from this position in February of this year following backlash from a controversial tweet she had made regarding Ukraine.

The Twitch career of Macaiyla has been no stranger to controversy, with her streams being embodied by “edgy humor” and shock value content. Prior to the most recent ban, Macaiyla received a day-long ban in September 2019 for accidentally showing nudity on stream. Another ban came shortly after in November 2019, this time lasting a whole seven days. While Macaiyla had stayed out of trouble for some time following these bans, the most recent sanction by Twitch is the most severe one yet.

Length of Macaiyla’s Twitch Ban

Macaiyla was banned from Twitch on June 3, with the streamer quickly taking to Twitter to give fans the finer details of the punishment. The streamer let fans know that the ban has originally been set as a full two weeks in length, although Macaiyla did also say that she is undergoing the process of appealing the ban to try and reduce the length it will be instated for. With a two-week ban being at the higher-end of Twitch punishments, fans are understandably worried and curious as to why the ban was inflicted in the first place.

Reasoning Behind Macaiyla’s Twitch Ban

As is the norm, many viewers immediately began speculating and developing theories regarding why Macaiyla received the Twitch ban. A leading theory regards the fact that Macaiyla recently found herself in hot water, once again through Twitter, due to her comments on the Vietnamese food Pho, where she appeared to insinuate that dog meat could be an ingredient in the dish. This of course led many to believe that these comments were the justification for the ban, although this evidently is not the case.

Again speaking through Twitter, Macaiyla let fans know that, while the ban was in fact because of “hateful content towards a group”, the group in question was not any Asian community. Macaiyla went on to admit that she was shocked behind the reasoning for the ban, hence the appeal, and would talk about it in finer detail following the end of her suspension. Having said this, Macaiyla did appear to be remorseful, admitting that she was thankful for the Twitch ban as it has acted as an eye-opener to behave in a more mature way.
