xQc broke the news to fans during a live stream yesterday announcing that Twitch had confirmed that he would be banned from streaming on the site for three days, which is likely to begin at some point today. The former Overwatch professional has received the ban after live-streaming a YouTube video called “Safe For Work Porn,” which features multiple pornographic clips that have been colorfully drawn over for the sake of humor.

While all of the pornographic content has been covered up, given that the video was uploaded onto YouTube back in 2009, there are multiple frames in one of the scenes where some genuinely NSFW material is seen. Normally, in these situations, Twitch would administer the ban immediately, however, the popular streamer has been provided with sufficient notice leading many to believe that Twitch is giving special treatment to popular streamers.
Twitch’s decision to ban xQc has created significant controversy in the community, following a similar situation in January where Twitch streamer Alinity accidentally displayed a picture of male genitalia live on stream without anything covering it up and received no ban or warning from the platform.
Of course, Alinity’s situation was was clearly an accident with the streamer quickly shutting down the window to avoid any further exposure, whereas, in the case of xQc, he was intentionally watching the video on stream whether he was aware of the images inside or not. Alinity has found herself under fire again recently after throwing her cat during a live-stream.
