Twitch came under fire recently for the inclusion of a new automated system that will run mid-roll ads on a stream if the streamer has not run an ad recently. Naturally, this automated system angered a lot of streamers, with some saying that this would cause viewers to possibly miss something on screen.

SmilinDominator’s tweet has certainly blown up since he originally posted it, with many popular Twitch Partners like Dansgaming and Cohh Carnage replying with how bad the system is. It seems that this system is not made to benefit streamers or viewers, but Twitch as a whole, with many streamers calling for Twitch to remove the system altogether.
This isn’t the only controversial decision that Twitch has made recently. For those that don’t know, September is Hispanic Heritage Month, and in “celebration” of this, Twitch decided to add new emote modifiers that many felt perpetuated Hispanic and LatinX stereotypes. Twitch then apologized before quickly removing the modifiers in question, leaving many streamers and viewers with a bad taste in their mouth.
While Twitch as a company seems to be making wrong moves lately, Twitch as a community is thriving and pulling off amazing feats. Recently, Rami Ismail, one of the developers of Vlambeer, decided to give full control of his plane in Microsoft Flight Simulator over to his Twitch chat. And in a stunning turn of events, the chat managed to come together and fly the Boeing 787, complete with an impressive barrel roll and landing the plane at an airport. Hopefully, Twitch will soon figure out a way to come together similarly, and land its own “plane” as quickly as possible for some much needed inspecting and repairs.
